SATURDAY SHOW EDITION

THERE IN 30 MINUTES OR IT'S FREE?
(hat tip gear live)

Thanks to a deal with Pizza Hut, Playing Everquest II online now allows you to order pizza while you play!

But is it free after 30 minutes?

AND THE OSCAR GOODIES GO TO ...
(hat tip engadget)

Here's the list of gadgets going to presenters this year:

- A year free year of VoIP phone service from Vonage.
- The black version of Motorola’s RAZR V3.
- An iXi collapsible bike.
- A Dyson DC11 vacuum.
- Sprint is offering some unreleased “multimedia” phone from Samsung, maybe the SCH-5600?
- A Krups kitchen set that includes a toaster and an electric kettle.

NOW PLAYING AT CHATHAM AND WELLS NEAR YOU
(hat tip linkfilter)

(

For the filmgeek that has everything comes the RUF-CINEMA multimedia bed. This kinda gives "Bedtime for Bonzo" a whole new meaning.

FLEEING FROM THE CYLONS ONLINE ...
(hat tip slashdot)

SCI FI is getting balsy, offering the first episode of the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA for download. Granted, every episode is available via bittorrent, but this represents a dramatic shift in recognizing the audience's appetite to get their entertainment online.

WIERD SCIENCE
(hat tip daily rotation)

This is too stereotypical for words. Some geeks in Japan have created a "virtual girlfriend" who will "flirt, chat and argue with subscribers" of their service.

There's also BIOS AGENT for finding updates to your BIOS.

UNLIMITED CELLPHONE CALLS USING VOIP?

Taking advantage of the unlimited mobile to mobile portion of your cellphone package, could you use VOIP to make unlimited cell calls by routing them through the internet? The answer could be yes. Maybe.

Course, that kind of defeats the purpose of a "mobile" phone, doesn't it?

HACK A DAY: A BETTER WIFI ATTENNA

Protect your WiFi signal and increase it's range at the same time with this hack.

HOW STUFF WORKS: SPYWARE

How does Spyware worm it's way onto our PCs? HOW STUFF WORKS gives the answer.

TECH TUESDAY: DVR DILEMMAS

Everything you ever wanted to know about digital video recorders. How DVRs work. Is TIVO the best? Can you make your own DVR? Can you burn shows to DVD from a DVR? All this and more from TECH TUESDAY.

Is this how Paris Hilton's Sidekick got hacked?

I don't know what's worse, that someone was able to hack it, or that there's instructions on how to do it on the net.

IS FREE WIFI COMING?

(hat tip via slashdot)

The idea is that there would be a small ad banner area at the bottom of the screen when you logged on with your 802.11. Will ad-supported free WiFi be able to compete with TMobile/Starbucks Subscription hotspots?

PARIS HILTON'S SIDEKICK HACKED

This story is just plain scary. That someone could hack a cellphone and get private information from your cell's address book. In this case, many celebrities had their private phone numbers and emails published by the hacker on the Internet. Though rather funny, it represents a frightening development in cellular security.

Wasn't the digital card supposed to prevent this?
