SATURDAY SHOW EDITION

TIGER POUNCES IN APRIL
(hat tip gear live)

Apple announces that OS 10.4 code name TIGER will launch on tax day, April 15th. And, true to form, Steve Jobs claims that it will be "light years" ahead of Redmond's Longhorn, IF it ever comes out!

DVD JON HAS DONE IT AGAIN ... This time defeatring iTunes DRM
(hat tip macrumors)
DVD JON, who hacked the copy protection for DVDs, has now hacked Apple's DRM in a most unique way - he's reinvented the iTunes Music Store. The software, called PyMusique, acts as a new store and prevents the DRM to be added to the song - which is what iTunes Music Store actually does. Using PyMusique avoids that, letting the purchaser of the music do anything they want with it according to the principle of FAIR USE. Which is as it should be.

A PIECE OF THE ACTION FOR APPLE?
(hat tip c/net news)
Yahoo wants a piece of the action from 3rd party accessory makers in exchange for a "MADE FOR IPOD" sticker. Ain't that just like Steve Jobs to think his product is so incredible that they'll "let you have a sticker" in exchange for a piece of the pie?

I think Miriam said it best:

greed
Pronunciation: 'grEd
Function: noun
Etymology: back-formation from greedy
: excessive or reprehensible acquisitiveness

PEERFLIX - Why rent or buy when you can trade ... legally

Peerflix is a service where you actually trade DVDs. Not files, mind you. The ACTUAL DVDs!

The service works by mailing out the DVDs you don't want, and receiving the DVDs you do. My question though, is that if everyone wants The Incredibles, how does someone get it, by waiting for that special member jonsin' for Napoleon Dynamite to give it up?

Perfectly legal, you bet. Practical? Only time will tell.

DIY - TELEPROMPTER

(hat tip engadget)

A great DIY for making your own teleprompter. If you're a video blogger or seeking to low budget way to read into a video camera - this is a good tutorial using common things found around the house.

For those of you who don't want to deal with construction, there's SERIOUS MAGIC'S VISUAL COMMUNICATOR - an all in one remedy for making video shorts, video resumes, video greeting cards, even interviews. And it comes with it's own software driven teleprompter. For my money, it's the creme de la creme for this purpose at the moment.

However, in the next few weeks, Serious Magic will also be releasing VLOG IT!, a video blogging application similar to Visual Communicator, only dedicated to video blogging. E-R will review it once it's available.
